My Rainy Latrobe 5 Mile Run

1. I really wasn't sure if I was running this, so I went about my normal workout routine. This was day 6 of working out with no rest, and I did legs on Friday.
2. The race was at 7:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. Who fucking schedules that? We were at a big birthday party that day, and I ate picnic food that didn't sit well in my stomach. I sat there sober and waited to go for my run while everyone else drank! So at least that was an accomplishment.
3. I haven't been running a whole lot since I started P90X. Probably only between 6-10 miles a week.
4. It was torrential downpours from mile 3 to mile 5.
5. I drank quite a few beers Friday night
I felt good for mile 1, I started getting a cramp at mile 2 and was like "what the fuck? I can't even run 5 miles now?" It got better and I continued on. It was 83 degrees and the humidity was horrible. It started pouring at mile 3 and I actually welcomed it. Mile 4 and 5 felt great and I was strong. I don't know why the beginning was so awful. I wore my HRM and I think that was a mistake. I kept looking at my heart rate and it felt constricting. I think I'll leave it at home next time!
I didn't work out at all yesterday. This morning I did P90X Chest, Shoulders & Triceps (47:50 calories 204). I'll be running 3 miles @ lunch and doing Ab Ripper after work. This will put me at 6 AP's for today.

Kill me now......
Okay, enough bitching about her. I took my frustrations out during my P90x Plyometrics workout this morning. It was the first time I did the whole workout! I even did the bonus round.

Monday Blues
Ugh, and to top it off my FMIL is here! That is adding to the stress and anxiety.
I managed to get my workout in this morning since I didn't do much over the weekend. I did P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps & Ab Ripper.

My Tanner is sick :(

I spent last night at the Vets..my poor Tanner is sick (the black one). He had a temperature of 103 and they think it may just be a virus, but he has to go back if he is not better tomorrow.
They put him on a bland diet and gave him a shot of antibiotics and some fluids and he seems a little better this morning. He's 11 so he's no spring chicken! But I love him dearly and am not ready for anything bad to happen! *sniff*
I did P90X Legs and Back this morning, will be doing Ab Ripper after work. This will put me at 4 AP's

Random Stuff About Me - I've Been Tagged
- I was born pigeon toed and had to wear shoes with a bar on them until I was one. My Mom said I kicked the holy living shit out of my crib and it had to be thrown away. I guess I was always ADD.
- When I was 5 my older sister was supposed to be watching me, but she let me climb on top of a swingset and I fell back on my head and was knocked out and had a concussion. My parents didn’t take me to the ER until the next day when I was projectile vomiting. I spent two days in the hospital.
- I am pretty ADD about my jobs, so I tend to switch frequently. The longest job I ever had was at Alcoa and that lasted ten years. I’ve been in my current job for 2 ½ years, that is the longest run since Alcoa.
- I have never eaten a steak in my entire life. I have never eaten ribs in my entire life. I have very bad texture issues, and it grosses me out to have to chew on meat.
- When I was young, my Chihuahua was chasing me because I was eating a hot dog. I fell and cracked open my face. I had a really bad scar all my life that bothered me, so I had scar revision surgery when I was 28. It is very unnerving to have a Dr. slice into your face when you are awake! But I am now glad that I did it because it looks so much better.
- I got my belly button pierced when I was 27, skinny and hot. Now all I have is an ugly scar! I do not have any tattoos on my body.
- My parents have been happily married for 41 years and my Dad still treats my Mom like a Queen! They are great parents.
- I got married for the first time @ age 20 to my older son’s Father. It lasted 7 years. He is still in my son’s life and we now are friends. We are both remarried.
- I am a bit of a loner. I prefer to do a lot of things by myself and am very independent. My sister is the complete opposite, she won’t even exercise alone! I often wonder how two such very different people are sisters!
- I like to work hard and play hard…that is my motto! I love a challenge and am very competitive.

Finally Done!!
Monday, June 16, 2008
Why oh why?
I was too tired to get up to workout this morning, so I'll be running 3 miles at lunch, then doing P90X Chest, shoulders & triceps & Ab Ripper after work. Then I'll finish the 2nd coat of paint...eh.
It was weird waking up to nobody in the house...it's too quiet. But I know I must enjoy it now, because FMIL will be here in 4 days.

Father's Day

It's Father's Day...and my DH and DS are leaving me. DH had back to back trips scheduled, so he is taking DS on this trip today with him to North Carolina. He didn't want to leave him for another week.
He is such a good Daddy! Brayden is very excited to get some male bonding time with Daddy.
I am going to take the dogs to run, hit the pool (I won't know how to act by myself!!) and then start painting the living room later, I already bought the paint this morning.
I am on my own until Friday night!!! My older son Jeffrey is at his Dad's today, then is headed to my Dad's house to help him this week.

Tired Thursday
Anywho, I did Yoga X this morning. Not one of my favorites! I like the stretching, and I know it's supposed to give you strength and flexibility but it doesn't burn many calories. He is constantly stressing how important it is to do it. I would have rather run 4 miles but I'm trying to do the program like it was designed.

I got Tagged!
1. How would you describe your running 10 years ago?
I used to run just to keep the pounds off, which quite frankly, was much easier to do at 27 than at 37! I definitely didn't do it competitively and never even dreamed of running in a race.
2. What is your best/worst running experience?
My best would have to be my first race, the Latrobe Rock N Run 5 mile run in June 2006. It was my first race ever, and I was so proud of myself. I never thought that I could do it. My time was 46:23 (9:17) and I thought that was pretty good for my first race.
My worst running experience was the 2008 Cook Forest Half Marathon. I did not dress appropriately for the race and it really affected my run. It was about 32 degrees when the race started, and I had a short sleeve shirt on. I know, I know how fucking stupid of me. That's me, never prepared!
3. Why do you run?
I run for many reasons...to stay in shape, keep the weight off and mostly for my sanity. It is my time and my thing, nobody else can take it away from me. It makes me feel strong and determined and I'm always amazed by what I can accomplish if I put my mind to it.
4. What is the best or worst piece of running advice that you've been given about running?
I would have to say to get good running shoes.
5. Tell us something surprising about yourself that not many people would know.
Hell I don't know, I am an open book, there is not much that peeps don't know! I guess that despite my prissy appearance (as my sister would say) I'm very much like a guy, I am athletic, love to watch and play sports and of course drink beer. My husband's friends think I'm the perfect wife.
Busy, Busy, Busy
No running today, I need to run errands at lunch today. Did P90X Back & Biceps and Ab Ripper this morning:

Crazy Tuesday
Then I get to work and have to rush around taking care of everyone else's Emergencies that they didn't plan for...grrr.
Anywho, I drug myself out of bed this morning to do P90X Plyometrics. I keep waiting for this workout to get easier...nope, still painful!

Week 6
Did P90X Chest, shoulders and triceps this morning (56:13, 212 calories), will be running 3 miles at lunch and will be doing Ab Ripper after work. This should put me at 6 AP's for the day.
I hate Mondays! Especially after a busy weekend. My honey is in Brazil until Saturday on business, I hate when he's out of town on the weekends.

Glorious Day of Rest!

Sunday, my one day of rest! I needed it. It is so fucking hot in Pittsburgh right now. I took Brayden to the park. Look at that kids poor face, he is lumped up! Another kid pushed him down at daycare and he fell on the pavement face first.
Well we were the only ones at the park due to the heat, so we went to the community pool. He had a blast! But I couldn't get him out of there....finally after 3 1/2 hours, I had to drag him out, kicking and screaming.
Why does this kid never get tired or need rest??

Heat Wave
No running for me today, on day 6 of P90X. I did Kempo X and Ab Ripper. Only Tony Horton would make you do kickboxing the day after legs! My legs and ass were already screaming this morning.
Ab Ripper was way tough this morning too. It's 16 minutes of hell, I tell ya. 333 moves! I better be fah-reaking hot by the end of 90 days! LOL

Shoe Hoor
The Quest for the Cup Ends for Pittsburgh

But it was a respectable finish after the first 2 games, where they were completely dominated by Detroit. Detroit is a great team, there is no shame in losing to them.
Thanks for the great season Pittsburgh Penguins, it's been a hell of a ride!
I didn't do my Yoga X this morning, just wasn't feeling it! LOL I am going to do it after work. Have I mentioned how much I hate Yoga? It feels like you aren't burning any calories, and I am just too OCD for the slow pace of it. But I guess it improves strength...eh.

No Snausages!

Okay, so this is the first day I've worn a sleeveless shirt this year. I've worn this shirt many times before and always felt self-conscious about my ham hock snausagey arms.
But this morning I actually felt okay in it! The snausages are fading, that the baby Jesus!
I was pretty tired this morning, the double workouts for the last few days have taken it's toll. I felt like my head hit the pillow last night and within 5 minutes my alarm went off at 4:30. It took a while to get out of bed and every part of me hurt.
I did P90X Back and Biceps this morning, no running on tap today. Only 2 AP's...waaahhhh

It's Not Over Till It's Over

I admit it, I counted the Pittsburgh Penuins out. Bad Kelly! Detroit completely dominated games 1 & 2, we came up with a win in game 3, but lost a crucial game 4. Last night, they were absolutelyfreaking amazing. They were down 3-2 in the 3rd Quarter, the champagne was ready to be wheeled into the Detroit locker room, Detroit fans were cheering "We want the cup" and score Pittsburgh in the last 30 seconds!!
At that point, I had to go to bed, I guess I'm not a die hard fan. But I heard my son and his friends cheering around 12:45 a.m. and woke up to a win! So no matter what happens from here, it's been a great ride.
Despite going to bed late, I drug my ass out of bed at 4:45 to do the worst P90X workout evah, Plyometrics, aka jump training. You have no clue how hard it was to get out of bed! There is an option to do Cardio X instead of Plyometrics because it is so hard. But take the easy way out?? No way! In the words of Tony Horton, BRING IT!

Phase II of Hell
I didn't have time to do Ab Ripper, so I'll be doing that after work. I also am planning on a 3 mile run at lunch.
